Shameful Vote: Nguyen has cited her family’s economic struggles after her parents immigrated to Sacramento as Vietnamese refugees as part of her motivation to enter public service and help communities in need. However, she failed to cast a vote on AB12 to cap the amount of money that landlords can charge their renters for deposit and move-in fees and create more housing access for low-income families.
What were they thinking?: During her 2022 campaign, Nguyen accepted over $900,000 in donations from Coalition to Restore California’s Middle Class, a PAC funded primarily by big oil companies, including Marathon Petroleum Corporation, Chevron Corporation, and Valero Services, Inc. Between these donations and her failure to take a position across a diverse cross-section of progressive bills this session, it’s hard to know exactly who she’s working for.
